Foot of Africa Shiraz Viognier is a refined wine blend with 95% carefully selected Shiraz grapes from vineyards in the Stellenbosch and Coastal regions, as well as 5% Viognier grapes from the Western Cape. This wine offers a complex and elegant taste experience with a deep red color and prominent notes of blackcurrants, spices and red fruit.

Wine description:

Colour: Deep red

Nose: Currants, spices, red fruit and a hint of honeysuckle

Palate: Mulberry and rosemary, well integrated with French oak tannins that give a long, persistent dry aftertaste

Manufacturing process:

The Shiraz grapes from Stellenbosch grown on strong Hutton-Clovelly soils add complexity to the blend, while the Shiraz of the Coastal region contributes spicy elegance. The Viognier grapes are harvested and vinified separately and mixed with Shiraz before aging in wooden barrels. After crushing, the grapes are cold macerated for three days before fermentation starts. A combination of pump-overs and punch-downs ensures optimal color and flavor extraction from the shells. The wine matures for 12 to 16 months in third and fourth full French oak barrels before being racked.
